Experience in Missions
The Nelson family has over 14 years of ministry experience collectively that has seen them venture to over 10 countries. Esther grew up in a missionary home that took her all over the world. Greg’s experience living internationally in his adolescent years gave him a taste for different cultures and how Jesus could be known within those cultures. Meet the family below.

Greg
Being raised in the southern part of the U.S., it’s no surprise Greg got an early start in southern hospitality. After graduating from Appalachian State University and spending ten years in the business field, he finally answered the call God put on his life at a very young age to be an apostle and evangelist. This led him to move to Australia to do mission work where he met Esther in 2010. They married in 2012 and started a family in 2015. Since then Greg has had a vast amount of experience in global ministry through his time working as a missionary, a Pastor, and with Alpha Ministries. He boasts about nothing but Christ and his beautiful family.
Esther
Esther was raised by missionary parents from South Korea. She was born into YWAM in Hawaii, and quickly immigrated to Canada at a young age. She received her Bachelor’s in Fine Arts/Sculpture and Installations at Ontario College of Art and Design. She later worked with Youth With a Mission in Australia where she met her husband Greg. She has led a kitchen full of global volunteers, catered meals for the stars, but she mostly enjoys preparing meals in a smaller intimate setting with the call to disciple.
Chiara Agape
Her name is a call ‘to be a light and to shine Gods unconditional love.’ She is adventurous, bold, bright, kind-hearted, fearless, and loudly expresses every emotion. She has an obsession with movement and dance. When the music starts, she can’t contain herself and has to boogey down. Chiara adores the stage, the spotlight, and the drama. She has a confidence that we all can learn from and envy. She is the light of the Nelson family and never ceases to amaze.
Tayah Grace
Her name means, ‘Gift of God’ and she truly is a blessing and joy. She is loveable, easy going, and tender hearted, with the physical strength of Hercules! She loves to make people laugh and seeks out the fun in EVERYTHING! She has a love for babies, sharks, shoes, seaweed paper, and her sister Chiara. She has a knack for languages, putting things together, and spending time in the water. Her unearned affection brings a welcoming wholeness to us all.
Canada-2019- Greg & Esther spent 6 years in Canada. Greg worked as a Young Adults Pastor as their heart for missions grew. Seen here with Level from Northside.
Vanuatu-2007- Esther on a 2 month outreach to Vanuatu. Her group started a youth program for children in local villages.
Cambodia-2012- Esther led a team to work with victims of human trafficking. Pictured here on a excursion to Angkor Wat in Siem Reap.
Papua New Guinea- 2010- Esther co-led a team to Oro Province in Papua New Guinea. PNG has one of the highest infant and maternal mortality rates in the world.
USA-2011- Greg led a team to Joplin, MO, USA for relief work after a F5 tornado annihilated the town. (see background)
Papua New Guinea-2010- Greg was part of a team that spent 4 weeks living in East Vailala, Gulf Province, Papua New Guinea. Ask him about it one day.
Japan-2019- Greg lead a team of 9 to Japan for college outreach through a church in Nagoya. Japan is less than 1% Christian.
Australia-2011- Greg & Esther both spent several years in Australia. Greg pictured here assisting a local farmer with clean-up after Cyclone Yasi
United Kingdom-1999 & 2017- Greg has been on 2 missions to England. Once singing hymns in Brighton and here, in London, for an Alpha conference.
New Zealand-2011- Greg led a team to New Zealand to call out pacific islanders and Maori's into the call of missions. Here, at a Marae in Tauranga.
2005- Greg was part of a team that went into the deserts of Nuevo Leon province Mexico and started soccer camps. Here in Dr. Arroyo with some local children.
Canada-2018- Paired with a local network of refugees from Syria and Iraq, Greg and a team from their local church ran a 2-day soccer camp.
